   3.)  “I’ve been here, there, and everywhere today.” I said this to my mom after a very busy and stressful day.

   4.)  “I’m just out for some retail therapy today.” I had a customer express this to me at my retail store (maurice’s).

   5.)  “I’ve done absolutely terrible tonight.” My friend said this after they lost money gambling football and basketball games online.

Aurora

Location: An urban landscape stretching across Alaska.

Romantic Couple: They are taking a midnight hike and setting up camp for the night and stumble across a break in the forest that reveals an astonishing, and luminous scene across the night sky: the aurora borealis in full glow.

Man:

(Letting out a breath of amazement)

“Look, the colors are so vibrant tonight!”

As the emerald, indigo, ruby, and lilac colors swirl and dance in the sky above, an overwhelming peace blankets the landscape, as all wildlife seem to stop and  gaze.

Woman:

(Smiling)

“I am memorizing this moment so I am able to go back to it in my mind in times of sadness and it will bring me joy.”

Man:

(Turns to woman…)

“I am grateful I am able to spend this instance with you, right here, right now.”

           They embrace, & continue to witness the radiant show performing before them.

Documentary Subject

This is Trevor. 

Trevor has been through a great amount of ups and downs in his life, yet still remains one of the most positive and real people I know. He has a enormous passion for sports, but more specifically football. He was a star in high school, and held the position of the team's captain: quarterback. He worked many hours each and every day in order to be the best he could be. He received many offers from respectable universities that showed interest in him. He ultimately decided to sign with Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. The summer before he packed up and made the move, he was playing in an adult league flag football game and was struck directly in his left leg. His leg was snapped in half, tearing every tendon and nerve in the way, including his left ankle. Trevor becomes very emotional when asked about his experience because it was career ending. He underwent a major surgery for his leg, and 5 months later had to have reconstructive ankle surgery on the right side. He spent nearly two years at Olivet on the sidelines wishing he could play. He finally got a chance to step on the field sophomore year, and during practice one day, he started to run and his right knee popped, and gave out. It continued to get worse over the next few weeks and ended in yet another surgery. Unfortunately, this only made things worse. He is approaching yet another surgery any day now. Waiting for the call to get surgery is stressful and often causes anxiety. He must wait on a cadaver that had the same body, age, weight, and sex as him in order to go under the knife. I am in full support of him and plan on being there for him through this process, because not only is he my boyfriend, but my best friend.

Location description (interior/ exterior):

Downtown Goshen is home to a thriving cultural arts scene, beautiful historic architecture, and features intriguing places to eat and shop. You will see almost every building is brick, has iconic arches, iron gates, and detailed facades.  Everyone flocks to the local coffee shop, library, theatre, and record shop where local bands perform. 

Describe the scene and action. How many people are on camera?

Depending on time of day, downtown Goshen can be bustling, or calm and serene. The time at which I took pictures, it was very quiet. There were several people scattered at the outdoor tables, and a few in the coffee shop, but not much else. During lunchtime or on a weekday evening, Goshen comes alive. Everyone’s eating, drinking, walking, and enjoying life.

 How much space is needed?

            We have unlimited space. Several blocks are probably what we will be working with. We will try to get a variety of spaces in our video, both indoor and outdoor.

Will the action be shot from one or multiple locations?

            Multiple locations.

Is there off-screen space available?

            We could probably find somewhere such as the library in town.

What are the light levels and sources of light? How does this impact your scene?

            Outside, there is an abundance of light. Inside, we should be able to use the natural light because virtually every building has many windows. We might have to use a bit of artificial light in the coffee shop, but it’s not likely.

 Are you recording sound? Are there any issues to be aware of?

            We probably will not record sound. We plan on primarily using the song.

 Is there any special equipment needed?

            We have a camera and tripod, and a small right light if needed.

Are there any concerns that need to be addressed about shooting at this location?

            We will make sure to get approval of any people that might be in our video. I obtained permission when taking pictures, so we will do the same when shooting day comes.

Music Video Analysis

This is both a performative and narrative music video in which the members of Queen perform the song on stage and at certain points cut to a very dark and secluded setting. 
The visual elements that are used include a great deal of light, causing dramatic scenes when the band members are singing. When they are on stage, everything is more lit and they are moving around while the tone and lighting change with them. During these parts, the colors are muted on camera and during solos, is much heavier. The camera does move around with them on stage, however, it stays centered in one place when it switches to the dark scenes in which they are singing a cappella. Minor color effects are added in, but other than that, the focus is their faces and voices. 
Some of the key moments in the video are these dramatic a cappella scenes. The music stops and you wonder what is going to happen and what they are going to sing. Another key moment is in the beginning of the song during the piano solo. Solos are intriguing anyways, but the camera focusing on Freddie Mercury (lead singer) and the passion make it much more theatrical. 
All of these components seem to mildly follow the story of the song, but not in any significant way. It is rather more realistic to the performance of the song and the passion that goes into it each and every time it is performed. 
To my understanding, this was one of the first to be considered a music video, and on that level, I think it accomplishes the aspects of what we consider one today. 

Self Portrait and Bio

Hi! My name is Bailey, and I like to consider myself a fun person! I love to experiment with all types of art. I've been painting my whole life, so that is where I feel comfortable and at ease. I've also spent some time making pottery and photography. Another passion of mine is beauty. Whether it be makeup, skin care, or hair, I'll try it! I'm always trying my own DIY's at home and sharing what I do with others. 

I love many types of music and will try my best to sing along with anything no matter what I sound like. I believe in having fun and making the most out of everyday. I'm an avid Netflix (binge) watcher; Prison break, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, etc... you name it and I'll watch it... probably all in one day.

Although I have not completely decided what specific career I want to concentrate on when I graduate, I do want it to involve design somehow, being a graphic design major. I love the idea of having my own space to work and create things in. I've built up quite a collection of art/design books, works of art, my own pieces, etc.. to keep me motivated and inspired. I am excited for the future and all the different things I might do and accomplish. I love the arts because the possibilities are endless!
