that constant white noise sound in the background really takes away from the video. i love the concept, and the music, and the personality in the video. i think the audio issues really pulled away from the focus of the video. the transition between music and then the white noise grainy interview is off putting. the shots on the camera were so pretty and clear, though. i loved the b-roll a lot. good job! very interesting to watch!
I really like that close up of him tattooing! it shows that he really does enjoy doing what he does. The audio could be down. it seems like it peaks a lot. I think of instead cutting the music completely when he talks just lower it.
The box in the intro shouldn't have had a drop shadow. The interview should have probably been near a window because you get a flicker from the overhead lights. The B-roll of people getting tattoos was good. The pictures of the tattoos could have used a background other than just a black background.
I really enjoyed the intimacy of the video, it's a hard concept to convey with tattoos and you nailed it. I do wish you could have a little bit of the natural sound with the tattoo gun, great job though!
I like how you showed him tattooing someone, but you also showed the person while he was getting the tattoo and that he wasn't very phased by it. Capturing different tattoos that he has created as like a portfolio was also cool. I like your music choice, it goes with the subject well. My only problem with it was the interview audio. I feel like if you would've used a mic instead of just the camera it would have been better. You could also pull the gains down in the master audio so it didn't peak so much.
I think you had some really great shots. I just felt like there was kind of a break between the interview and the b-roll and music. I wish it all would have been combined. It felt like an abrupt stop when the music stopped and he started talking. It also would have helped cover the background noise from the interview.
This was a good subject for a documentary, and I like that towards the end you showed various tattoos that they had done. The music fit well with the topic, though at times it was a bit loud. You seemed to capture the guy's personality well, and it seems like an inviting place. There is some room for improvement, but overall nice job!
It was interesting and the cuts between the tattoo he was working on were done well. I wish there was a little more information about the artist; how he started, why he enjoys his job etc.

ReplyDeleteFun subject. You brought a lot of really great color into your shots. Your audio is up too high.

ReplyDeleteI think the music cut went on to long and the audio fluctuated to much. I feel there wasn't really a lot about the subject but some great b roll.
ReplyDeleteCool topic, he interviewed well. Shots and audio were clear.
