I don't feel the sense of surprise and the change of music wasn't a very strong point in my opinion. I really liked the shots of the turtle and fish though.
I like how your music goes along with the calmness of a fish tank. I just wish you would've manually focused instead of it continually auto focusing. I also like the switch in music and how the shots became more upbeat as the music did too.
The end really showed where you were coming from. The beginning scenes, it was kind of hard to tell. The transition of music helped a lot. I think it could help if you added more scened of the fish swimming away and actually seeming frightened or scared. Really creative!
I liked the second sample of music, it really conveyed a surprise of the wildlife. I wish that the beginning could have builded up to that, for the end was strong and my favourite of the piece
At first I wasn't really sure that the video was relating "surprise", as it was more calm and peaceful, but then with the change of music and starting to mess with the animals it made sense. I like how the music picked up pace to show the change in mood and the "surprise" the animals were in for.
I liked your concept of using sea creatures as your subjects instead of people. I didn't feel like the video conveyed the emotion very well. I think that the shots of the turtle and fish swimming in the beginning were a little bit too long and that the part with the hand was too short in comparison. I think it would have been better conveyed if there was less time for just swimming and more time for reaction. Nice video!
Maybe there could have been a few shots of you getting the supplies to capture the fish and turtle because that I think would help show surprise better.
I like the progression of the video. you showed the calmness of the fish before you "attacked" them and then showed your emotion. Be careful not to allow your camera to be seen in the shots, it gives the illusion away.
Interesting video. I like how the dynamic changed from start to finish with the shift in music and in the environment. Nice shots of your pets throughout.
I like that you worked with your animals for the project, its a challenging thing to do! I also like that the surprise isn't really with the "actors" but more so with the viewer. Also the reflection in the tank glass was a little distracting but it was so small it didn't take anything away from the piece.
Good surprise at the end, I feel like the first section is a little long. I'm unsure if I liked the music choice in the beginning, I don't think it really fit. I for sure liked the ending music.
Perhaps more than anything, the music conveyed your emotion. I was surprised by that turn of events.

ReplyDeleteI like the suspense. I think it might have been more surprising if you did a much more abrupt change in music and tone.
